What Mali Creates
Mali Creative Studio designs and produces silk scarves rooted in original illustration and nature-inspired pattern work. Every piece begins as a hand-painted design made in our studio — then becomes something you can wear, gift, collect, or sell.
We also create original surface patterns and textile designs for fashion labels, stationery brands, interior studios, and agencies — delivered as production-ready files for print, fabric, and paper.
We work in two ways: direct retail, for people who want a beautiful, meaningful piece; and custom and wholesale, for institutions, hotels, boutiques, and events that want something made specifically for them.
Our work is currently in the gift shop of the Museum of the Cathedral of Santo Domingo — three custom designs, two silk formats, restocked regularly.
Custom Silk Scarves
We design bespoke silk scarves for museums, hotels, cultural institutions, and events. Each piece is drawn from original illustration tied to your collection, property, or story — and delivered in your choice of size and format.
Surface & Textile Design
We create original repeat patterns, motifs, and surface illustrations for fashion, interiors, stationery, and packaging. Designs are delivered production-ready and available for exclusive commission or licensing.
Retail Scarves
Each scarf in our collection starts as a painting made in our studio. Hand-illustrated, printed on silk, and designed to be worn, collected, and gifted. Available in standard and large formats.
CREATIVE Workshops
We host small, intimate workshops in embroidery, drawing, and journaling — online and in person. No experience needed.
Wholesale Collection
Our existing library of nature-inspired designs is available for wholesale — as finished silk scarves or licensed design files for your own production. Ideal for boutiques, hotel gift shops, and retailers.

Meet the Artist Behind Mali
Our founder
Hi, I'm Barbara.
I'm an architect, artist, and designer based in New York. I founded Mali Creative Studio from my artistic practice — a place where hand-painted illustration becomes silk scarves, surface patterns, and custom commissions for people and institutions who want something made with intention.
I grew up surrounded by nature, color, and stories. That's still what drives every design I make.
Mali is built together with my husband Eduardo, who leads operations and business development while I lead creative direction and design. We're a small studio — and we work with a small number of institutional and wholesale partners each year to make sure every commission gets the attention it deserves.
